Red Ribbon Week

The Drug Free Wayne County Coalition offered a challenge to local fifth grade students for a slogan and to middle and high school students for The180 Project scripts to be used in their schools. See our "Winners".

Next Meeting Date

Our next Drug Free Wayne County Coalition Meeting will be on May 13 at 3:30 pm at the Wayne County Board of Education's Tech Center (old high school media center).  Our contingent of teens is currently working on a special project. I can't wait to see it!

Quick Facts

One in four deaths can be attributed to substance abuse. The economic burden of substance abuse to the US economy is estimated at a staggering $414 billion annually. Other consequences include more than on=third of the growth in the state prison population; 75 percent of domestic violence victims reporting their assailants were under the influence of substance abuse; children from families with substance-abusing parents are more likely to have problems with delinquency, poor school performance, and emotional difficulties. The bottom line is that every area of our Wayne County population is affected by substance abuse.

Participation

Participation in the Drug Free Wayne County Coalition is voluntary and includes every area of our society. If you have an interest in removing substance abuse in our community we want your participation. See more info under the tab About Us and then Contact Us.
